Reverend Jonathan Mellette received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Methodist College in 1997, specializing in piano and vocal performance. In 2005 after 14 years of music ministry, Jonathan answered the call to pastoral ministry. In 2009, Jonathan received his Master of Divinity degree from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. Jonathan is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, and currently serves as the pastor of Florence United Methodist Church in Florence, Texas, and as the pastor of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Jarrell, Texas.

Jonathan describes his call to ministry as "centered in worship and focused on preaching." He is currently finishing his doctorate in Preaching and Worship from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. The title of his applied research project and dissertation is "The Character-Driven Sermon: A Homiletical Implementation of Character Identification Theory."

Jonathan has two children, Matthew and Grace. He lives in Florence with his wife Sheryl; his son Matthew; his three stepsons, Brennan, Connor, and Dylan; and their beloved dogs, Ginger, Chloe, and Max.
